I love this movie really much. And its kind of living in the movie. I love all the things about Mortal Instruments. The actors, books, plots, soundtracks, and many more. I really can't wait for the second movie. I have read until Book Five. Some people say The Book Six will arrive at Indonesia on May 2014. I want to spend my holiday with those books if i can.
Let's strated with the actors!
First, We have Clary Fray, a seemingly ordinary teenager, discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother, Clary joins forces with a group of
Second, We have Jace Lightwood/ Wayland/ Herondale is a Shadowhunter living at the New York Institute with his adopted family. Jace's legal name changes throughout the series, from Jace Wayland (when his father is thought to be Michael Wayland), to Jonathan Morgenstern (Valentine's son), to Jace Herondale (When his true father is revealed to be Stephen Herondale). His mother was the young Celiné, a member of Valentine's inner circle with Stephen Herondale. The nickname "Jace" was given to him by Maryse Lightwood after his (fake) initials J.C (Jonathan Christopher, because no one but Valentine knew Jace was not his real son), when he first began living with Maryse Lightwood and her family, because of his dislike for his name.
Third, We have Simon Lewis is Clary's best friend. He accompanies Clary in her adventures, despite being human for the first book, and most of the second book. In City of Bones, he is kidnapped by vampires after being turned into a rat and brought to their lair in the abandoned Hotel Dumort. Later, in City of Ashes, he begins to feel some side effects as a result of biting Raphael, the temporary head vampire while he was a rat. Because he is human and doesn't know the correct way to become a vampire, he begins to fear he may be turning into a monster.
Forth, We have Isabelle Lightwood is a Shadowhunter and lives in the New York Institute. She is rebellious and very beautiful. Her cooking is often made fun of by Jace and Alec. She is known to be dangerous and often carries weapons in her tall boots that are never less than seven inches. Isabelle is very beautiful and tall. She has very dark brown eyes with hints of gold that initially appear to be black. She is curvaceous and has long black hair. She dresses stylishly, often with badass heels.
Fifth, We have Alexander "Alec" Gideon Lightwood is a Shadowhunter living in the New York Institute with his siblings. He is the oldest of the Lightwoods and is quieter than both Isabelle, his brother Max, and Jace, his best friend and adoptive brother. Alec is 18, making him legally an 'adult,' which gives him permission to attend Clave meetings. He was jealous of Clary, at first, upon meeting her due to knowing how Jace felt about her, and Alec himself was in love with Jace. Later, when he realizes that Jace will never return his feelings, he starts to date and falls in love with Magnus Bane (a warlock who is immortal and 800 years old), though his strong brotherly love for Jace remains.
Sixth, We have Magnus Bane is the High Warlock of Brooklyn. He was the warlock who tampered the mind of Clary Fray after being asked to help erase her early memories by her mother. He first meets the other Shadowhunters at one of his Downworlder parties. He later has Clary retrieve the Book of White for him in City of Glass, and agrees to help revive her mother with it. In the book City of Glass, he says he is 800 years old. Magnus Bane is described as being of Asian descent because his mother was Indonesian and his father is a demon. He is also said to be long and lean, but not skinny, with lightly muscled arms and an inch taller than Alec.
Seventh, We have Valentine Morgenstern is the main antagonist of the first half of the series, and is the former husband of Jocelyn Fairchild. This also makes him biological father to Clarissa Morgenstern and Johnathan Christopher Morgenstern (Sebastian Verlac). In his youth he was a very skilled Shadowhunter from a rich family in Alicante. His best friend was Lucian Graymark while they were in school, among other Shadowhunters including Maryse Lightwood (née Trueblood), Robert Lightwood, Hodge Starkweather, Stephen Herondale and Michael Wayland. Upon the death of his father, Valentine fell in love with Jocelyn Fairchild, and together he and his group of young Shadowhunters formed the infamous group known as the Circle. With him leading the Circle, they had intended to share the gift of the Nephilim with the rest of humanity by using the Mortal Cup. Valentine and Jocelyn married and all was well until his ideas for the Circle became more radical, as Valentine wanted to kill all Downworlders. He infects his son with Demon blood and is betrayed by his former best friend, Lucian Graymark, and his wife at the Uprising of the Accords. Upon fleeing the battle, Valentine is assumed to be dead and goes into hiding with his son and Jace Herondale.
Next, Jocelyn Morgenstern/Fairchild/Fray/Graymark/Garroway is Clary's mother and a former Shadowhunter. Jocelyn grew up in Idris with Luke, Valentine, and the other Circle members. She was married to Valentine at the age of 19, though she says she married him because she loved him, she later realized that he was torturing innocent people. She fled Idris when she found out she was pregnant with Clary, so he could not do harm to her daughter like he did on Jonathan (Sebastian), her first-born son. Later it is said that Luke tracked her down and Clary, being around the age of 3-5 at the time though it does not specify, opened the door to him. He then stayed in their lives and him and Jocelyn lived their lives in New York, also taking a large part in raising Clary, until Jocelyn is located by Valentine. She takes a potion, putting herself in a coma to protect her secrets and remains unconscious until she is revived by Magnus Bane in City of Glass. She is also a Shadowhunter warrior.
Last, Lucian Graymark is a shadow hunter, too. He is a friend of Valentine and Jocelyn when they were a child. But, Luke never told her about his feelings. So, Valentine and Jocelyn married until they were seperated. Lucian married Jocelyn at the Book Five.
Okay, Ready for the plots?!
Fifteen-year-old Clary Fray goes to the Pandemonium Club with her best friend, Simon Lewis. Inside, she notices a group of strangely behaving, but incredibly attractive teens sneaking into a storeroom. She follows and witnesses them killing someone, though no one else in the club seems aware.
When she returns home, her overprotective mother, Jocelyn Fray, scolds her for staying out so late and worrying her. The next day, Jocelyn announces that they are moving from New York City to the country for the summer where Jocelyn's best friend, Luke, has a house. Clary, upset about the unexpected move, leaves with Simon and later confides that she knows almost nothing about her mother or her entire family. Simon mentions seeing thin, white scars on Jocelyn's back and shoulders, but Clary dismisses this, having never noticed them. She ignores her mother's continual phone calls as they go to a poetry reading where Clary sees Jace, one of the teens she saw at Pandemonium. He privately tells Clary about demon-hunters (called Shadowhunters or Nephilim). The person killed at the club was a demon in human form. Jace claims Clary is not a mundane (mortal human) because beings like him are invisible to ordinary humans. Clary finally answers a call from Jocelyn, who frantically warns her not to come home and to tell Luke that "he" has found her. The call ends abruptly.
Clary rushes home in a panic and finds the apartment nearly destroyed and her mother missing. A giant, venomous demon attacks her. She kills it but is bitten and collapses. Jace arrives and takes Clary to the Institute, the Shadowhunters' hidden home base, and is cured. Jace explains that Clary is a Shadowhunter like him, and that one or both of her parents must also be Shadowhunters. Their kind hunt and kill demons and derive special powers from runes they draw on their skin. Clary meets Jace's Shadowhunter partners, Alec and Isabelle Lightwood (who are also Jace's step-siblings), and Hodge Starkweather, their mentor. Hodge tells Clary about Valentine, an evil, former Shadowhunter who betrayed the Nephilim. He tells her about the Mortal Cup, one of the three Mortal Instruments given to the first Shadowhunter by the Angel Raziel. Drinking from the Cup turns normal humans into half-Angel Shadowhunters. Hodge suspects Valentine is searching for the Mortal Cup to use it to gain absolute power over other Shadowhunters and demons.
Clary and Jace return to her apartment to investigate what happened to Jocelyn. A Forsaken attacks, but Jace kills him. Clary's neighbor, Madame Dorothea, reveals she is a witch with ties to the Shadowhunter world. She says Jocelyn was once a Shadowhunter and had done small favors for her (such as painting a pack of tarot cards as a gift). In return, she had asked Madame Dorothea to listen for news of Valentine. Dorothea shows them a magical Portal in her apartment meant for Jocelyn and Clary to escape through if needed. Clary is distraught because her mother, waiting for Clary to arrive, was unable to use it.
Clary, followed by Jace, rushes through the portal, landing at Luke's bookstore and finding Simon hiding in the bushes. Simon was trying to find out what happened to Clary. He observed Luke packing several weapons inside his bag. The three hide inside the store. Luke returns with two men, Pangborn and Blackwell, who Valentine sent to interrogate Luke about the Mortal Cup's whereabouts. Luke claims he does not know where Jocelyn, who is in a coma, hid the Mortal Cup and has no interest in her or the cup. He refuses to negotiate with them or interfere with Valentine's plans. Clary and Jace, accompanied by Simon, go back to the Institute and tell Hodge what they learned. Hodge tells them about the Circle, a group of Shadowhunters that Valentine formed to eliminate all Downworlders (vampire, werewolves, faeries, warlocks, and others). Jocelyn, Valentine's wife, was forced to join. It was believed she had died in a fire that destroyed Valentine's home. Jocelyn's real maiden name is Jocelyn Fairchild.
Jace takes Clary to the Silent Brothers in an attempt to retrieve her memories that could save her mother. After probing Clary's mind, a mental block is discovered on it, preventing her from seeing the Shadowhunter world. The Silent Brothers determine the spell was placed by Magnus Bane, the High Warlock (immortal offspring of a demon and a mundane) of Brooklyn, and only he can remove it.
When Isabelle receives an invitation to a warlock party hosted by Bane, Clary goes with her and the others. Clary meets Bane, who says his spell is too complex to remove but will fade naturally if it is not re-enforced every two years. Jocelyn had Bane place a protective spell on Clary's mind to prevent her seeing the Shadow world. During the party, Simon ignores Isabelle's warning and drinks a blue liquid that transforms him into a rat. Vampires kidnap him, and Clary and Jace trail them to an abandoned hotel to rescue him. Jace, Clary, and rat-Simon escape when werewolves invade the hotel and battle the vampires. Jace seems upset when Simon and Clary embrace after he becomes human again.
That night, Jace takes Clary to the Institute's greenhouse on a midnight picnic to celebrate Clary's sixteenth birthday, and their romance blossoms with a romantic first kiss.
As the block continues fading and her memories begin emerging, Clary deduces that the Mortal Cup is hidden inside one of Madame Dorothea's tarot cards. Clary and the others go to Dorothea's apartment. Clary retrieves the Cup, but a demon appears from the Portal and possesses Madame Dorothea. Aided by Simon, they escape and return to the Institute where Hodge betrays them by handing over the Cup and an unconscious Jace to Valentine. Hodge flees, pursued by Clary. Hodge attacks her in an alleyway, but she is unexpectedly saved by Luke, who is a werewolf.
Luke tells Clary that he and Jocelyn were childhood friends. They met Valentine while they were in school. Valentine and Jocelyn fell in love and were married. Luke explains how he became a werewolf, and about him and Jocelyn meeting in secret to plot an uprising that resulted in many deaths. Clary also learns she had a brother, Jonathan, who died in the fire set by Valentine and that also killed Jocelyn's parents. Luke and Jocelyn escaped Idris (the Shadowhunter world) to Paris. Jocelyn, pregnant with Clary, refused help from the local Shadowhunters, and secretly raised her child as a mundane. Jocelyn had Magus Bane place the block on Clary's mind to prevent her from seeing the Shadowhunter world. Luke found Jocelyn living in New York some years later. Clary is horrified to learn that Valentine is her father.
Luke and Clary devise a plan to storm Valentine's secret stronghold with help from Luke's werewolf pack. While the werewolves attack Valentine's followers, Clary locates her mother, who is unconscious and also finds Jace, who says Valentine told him he is Valentine's son. Having developed romantic feelings for each other, both Clary and Jace are aghast at realizing they are brother and sister. Clary says that despite Valentine being their father, he is evil. Valentine appears and entices Jace to return to Idris with him. Jace refuses, and Valentine escapes through a portal with the Cup, smashing the portal behind him.
Although the movie is not as good as the book. I think its wroth it. Thanks to Ariana Grande, Nathan Skyes, and Demi Lovato for the beautiful Soundtrack. Special Thanks to Cassandra Clare who made the amazing story! I really can't help my self to not live in the book. It feels like i want to end up the my life like the story.
